Our school year is racing on. Allison had her senior pictures taken recently just to remind me of how fast the years are flying by. As Abby recited her speech to me tonight, from her speech class, with such expression and poise, I was reminded of how quickly she too is growing up. While the girls don't like me taking random pictures of them and putting them on my blog, Grant and Chloe don't mind so much.

I'll be sad when everyone outgrows the need for hands-on projects like making Mercury and building sugar cube pyramids. I guess I won't miss the nine planets that are decorating my hall walls right now, but then again, I probably will. Jupiter is gigantic even when it's done to scale in poster board! We are using Exploring Creation with Astronomy for science and Veritas Press's Old Testament and Ancient Egypt for history. Here are just a few of the fun things we've been doing:

| Chloe painting the first level of her ancient ziggurat model. |
 |
| Didn't it turn out pretty? Each level of an ancient ziggurat was often painted a different color. |

| Can you guess which planet? (YRUCERM) |

Everyone's favorite experiment! Concentrating the sun into one spot in order to melt chocolate. Licking Eating the chocolate after the experiment was the best part! |
