Another Faith Builder

I just finished reading Joni Eareckson, the story of a young woman whose diving accident at age 17 left her a quadriplegic and changed her life forever.  I loved this encouraging book!  I knew her basic story already, but I had never read the book which gives all the details of her struggles to overcome so many obstacles to become the godly woman Joni is today.  I simply cannot imagine what it would be like to not be able to walk, dress myself, bathe myself, do my hair, and so many other little things that Joni depends on others to do for her.  Mercifully, the Lord did not leave Joni to wallow in self-pity and caused her to seek Him.

My favorite part of her story comes when she finds Ephesians 2:10 "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."  Joni realizes that she was created for a purpose, and that God had something in mind for her life, even as a quadriplegic.  We all have a purpose.  Knowing that God has a purpose for each of us and "works prepared beforehand" for us to "walk in" can bring us great joy during times in our lives when we don't know exactly what it is that God expects from us.  He is faithful to His promises.

If you are looking for an easy read and something to increase your faith, I would highly recommend Joni.
