May Days

Graduation is over, the weather is finally turning warmer, and our family is wrapping up yet another year of homeschooling.  I can hardly believe year 15 of homeschooling my children is coming to a close!  Abby turned in her last assignment of the year today, so I am officially down to two children in my homeschool.  Unbelievable!

We are ending our year on some great books.  Abby and Grant just finished reading Uncle Tom's Cabin which I posted about here.  I read the book in 2014 just because a friend kept recommending that I do so.  I'm glad my children have now had the chance to read and discuss this great book as well.

Chloe and I finished reading The Hawk that Dare Not Hunt by Day by Scott O'Dell.  This book marked the end of our study of the middle ages and gave us a peek into our future studies of the Age of Exploration.  It gave us an interesting and exciting plot through which to learn about the remarkable life and death of William Tyndale.  Tyndale is credited with translating the Bible into English so that the common man could read and study the Bible for himself.  Of all the books on the reformers that I have read with my kids over the years, this one strikes me as the best read yet.

I finished reading The Hiding Place again for a second time having read it the first time just a couple of years ago.  What a convicting yet motivating book worth reading many times over.

Happy May and happy reading!
