Since a stomach bug ripped through our family this week, I don't have any pictures to share. Trust me, pictures of our week would be unappealing!
Our biggest accomplishment this week was finishing the book Benjamin West and His Cat Grimalkin. Benjamin West was a Quaker boy, and Quakers did not have pictures in their homes. Images were deemed unnecessary and almost sinful. But, God gave Benjamin the talent of painting, and he drew and painted in spite of the fact that he had never even seen a picture! This book tells the story of Benjamin's childhood with his beloved cat Grimalkin, and about how he became known as the Father of American painting. Excellent book--don't miss this one!
