Weekly Report: February 2012

Psalm 147:4-5 "He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name.
Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite."

One of my favorite studies is the study of space. After reading The Moon Seems to Change, Chloe made her own version of the phases of the moon that we found in the book.

After reading several books on stars, she had fun making some 3-dimensional stars.

Constellations are easy to make with a piece of white chalk and a few silver star stickers.

We just finished today an excellent book set in Korea in around 1200 A.D. The Single Shard tells the story of a young orphan boy who wants to learn the art of celadon pottery from his master. We not only learned about Korean customs and the art of pottery making, but we also learned about honor and courage and how these important character traits served to fulfill a young boy's dreams. We highly recommend The Single Shard!

Below are a just a few books we have enjoyed with our space unit.

I've been thinking for a while of reading The Single Shard to my kids. I think I will with such a positive review! And I love all the outer space work.
