Maui 2015 Continued

At the end of day 2, we drove to Lahaina, the little town close to where we stayed.  In Lahaina, we shopped and visited Banyan Tree Park.  The banyan tree, with its aerial root system and (according to Wikipedia) its 16 trunks, attract many visitors as well as the homeless of Hawaii.  The shade provided by this fantastic looking tree kept us quite cool on an otherwise extremely hot and humid day.

Feels like plastic!  We could not believe how thick each branch felt.

A common sparrow in Hawaii.  Wow!  Really?  We thought it looked like a mini Puffin bird.

My little red-crested cardinal friend.  These birds would come to our balcony every morning looking for crumbs while Kyle and I were eating breakfast.

Day 3 found us back at the beach where Grant, Chloe, and I watched as a sea turtle drifted close to the shore.  The turtle startled Grant after brushing against his leg, but we were glad to be alerted to his presence!  It was an amazing sight.  After a hot day and lots of sand, we all needed a shower.  So, we headed back to the condo to get cleaned up, so that we could attend a Luau that evening.  The Luau setting was beautiful!  We arrived just as the sun was setting over the water.  The women received beautiful floral leis while the men donned a necklace of beads. Our sea shell necklace served as our ticket into the Luau.  We started the evening with some tasty fruit drinks and later ate a wonderful meal followed by entertainment.

Stephanie bought all the girls in the family flowers for our hair.

Waiting for food.
