Chloe and I have read it every day for the last several days, and even the big kids get a kick out of this one. I love the illustrations which remind me of fall and the delicious pumpkin treats we like to eat this time of the year. I also love that it is based on the true story of Linda White's own aunt who had little to eat except pumpkins during America's Great Depression.

Another Pumpkin book we are enjoying this season is
The Pumpkin Runner. This tall tale is also based on a true story. Cliff Young was a 61 year old farmer from Australia who placed first in a 542 mile run from Sydney to Melbourne. He split the winning money, $10,000, with the other runners in the race. You'll have to read the story to find out how pumpkins helped him to win!

My Dad hated black eyed peas because many times that is all he and his mother had to eat. I should get this book and read it.
