Friday is art day, and today we studied perspective again and talked about a vanishing point. With Balloon Fiesta getting ready to start here in ABQ, I decided to have the kids draw an Albuquerque scene including hot air balloons. This one is Grant's.

Chloe did this one--don't you love how even a 5 year old can start to understand perspective? Those are mountains in the backgroud (up high and smaller) and trees in the foreground (larger and down low). Her balloons are in the middle.

For History we started a new read aloud--A Gathering of Days: A New England Girl's Journal. And, we are continuing with Don't Know Much About Pioneers.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Do you use an art curriculum? I love how you've made it an important part of your homeschooling. It tends to be the thing that is forgotten when we get busy, but I want to change that.
Love all the art! We just can't get to it! You inspire me!
Thanks for the nice comments. Julia, I do use an art curriculum for my two youngest--How to Teach Art to Children. I also pull ideas from lots of art blogs. I'll try to post all my resources soon.
I do so enjoy the kids art work. They are so talented and I'm happy to see that you are helping them develop that!
Sydni you never stop impressing me! Praise the Lord my mom enrolled the kiddos in an Art Class this year! They love it and are learning about color, line, etc. Many of the same aspects you are teaching!
Great pictures! I'm so not an artist, but am really trying to do art with my kids this year. Thanks for sharing!
