We finished another good week of school--week 8! The following are some of the highlights.
Silent reading--this boy can't do anything without his Legos!

We painted scarecrows--a lesson I got from Deep Space Sparkle. The lesson went perfectly with our lessons on the color wheel from How to Teach Art to Children .

We've been studying Van Gogh, so we decided to try to paint "Impressionist" style. We used fall trees as our subject since we've been enjoying so many beautiful trees this fall. We drew in our trees with a gray oil pastel. Then we sponge painted tempera paints to get an impressionist look. We did a lot of experimenting with the sponges and the following pictures are what we ended up with when time was up.

We finished off our week with nature study and Challenge #6. Check it out on our nature blog.
