Weekly Report

It's always a good day at our house when someone passes an Apologia science test, but when someone makes a 100? Well, that's cause for a celebration! Good job Abigail!

As a part of our Tapestry of Grace studies, we are now studying about the ancient Sumerians. They wrote the story of Gilgamesh, so we are reading some versions of this ancient story.

We've decided to stick with the math program we started with when Allison entered first grade nine years ago--Math U See. I have been very pleased with the Algebra I course. So far, it hasn't left either one of us confused!

We completed an art project that I found over at Teach Kids Art. Tangles are all the rage with some, so we decided to see what all the fuss was about. Tangles are a great way to explore color and patterns.

The kids really had fun with this project. I gave the older two 11 X 11 sheets of drawing paper, while the younger two kids had 6 X 6 sheets of paper. The smaller area kept Grant and Chloe from getting discouraged by too much space to fill up. I also gave them colored Sharpie markers to work with. That was a hit with everyone!
This week's readings for history, and our study of Antonio Vivaldi:

Art looks neat!

We have that Gilgamesh the Hero book. Very interesting story and it always blows my mind at how OLD it is.

Looks like a good week for you!

Sydni~ Have you seen or used the Prismacolor markers that have a chisel nib on one end and a fine nip on the other? Maybe Dick Blick carries them. They're a great art marker. I enjoy following your blog every week. The art projects you do with your kids are inspiring.

The tangles are very cool -- I liked that you gave the youngers smaller sheets (I need to remember to do things like that) to prevent discouragement! I've been pleased w/ MUS Algebra 1 also!
