Spring time in January!

Look closely at what my children are wearing in these pictures and remember that it's January in Albuquerque. Notice anything?

A high of 61 degrees was predicated for today, January 19th. Living in Texas, I would expect this kind of weather, but not in Albuquerque, NM! I'm not complaining. In fact, we all love it! A little warm weather in January does my Texas heart some good.

When we first moved to Albuquerque four years ago, we noticed that many people who had lived here most, if not all of their lives, did not appreciate the beauty of Albuquerque and took for granted the almost perfect climate this city offers. I grew up in Houston, Texas and lived in Dallas for nine years before moving here in 2004. Tropical storms, hurricanes, flooding, and sometimes just rain for weeks on end was a normal part of life. Glad to move away from that when I married Kyle, I didn't realize I would be trading driving through flood waters for worrying about tornadoes and ice storms instead.

My sister sent me the following weather announcement that she heard a DJ in Arllington, TX give last week.

"Welcome to Texas where you get all four seasons in one week. Last Saturday we had a high of 84, and everyone was in shorts--summer. Monday, we reached a high of 37, and we had icicles hanging from the trees--winter. Wednesday was a balmy 75--nice spring day. Today it is windy and a high of 55--typical fall day. It's cold but you can get by without a coat."

We may have a little spring weather in Albuquerque this week, but we never get the violent weather changes that Texas gets. If you live in Albuquerque, enjoy the mild climate this city has to offer, and enjoy the spring weather--something tells me that old man winter isn't through with us yet!

Ok, I have to put my 2 cents in on the Texas weather report... HHEHEHEHE First of all. I find it VERY ammusing that 61 is considered shorts weather.. hahahahaha The high here today is supposed to be 78. Then, it is supposed to be up to 82 by Friday.. then By sunday, back down to the 50's.... I say supposed to because, you never know what the weather will do! :) Dallas, I must say... was colder than Austin is hehe. Love to all!!

Yes, "I" was NOT in shorts. However, the sun is really hot here even when the air is cool. I agree--Dallas is much colder than Austin.

I love the warm wheather too:) I was all excited one day I texted Sarah and told her how happy I was that I got a sunburn......yes sounds weird, but wait till I explain, I was happy that the sun was that hot, and that I was outside in it.....make sense now? I just really love the sunshine. Thank God for that.
