Weekly Report

We had fun with Sketch Tuesday this week. The assignment: Sketch a famous landmark. Can you guess what each of my children drew?

Our US map is coming along nicely as we study westward travel. The kids colored in more states, added a couple of rivers, and drew in the Oregon trail.
I love this site for easy to print out mega maps!

I posted our nature study project at my Without Excuse blog. I used Leaf Man to inspire the kids to create their own "Leaf Men".

Our current read aloud is Moccasin Trail. This book grabbed us all from the first chapter, and we have enjoyed every minute of reading this fascinating tale of four children who lost their parents on the Oregon Trail, and are determined to make it to Oregon without them.

I love Moccasin Trail! Thanks for reminding me of it. It would make a good read aloud for my younger two at some point this year!

Blessings,

Faith

Tania,

You're right about the Statue of Liberty, of course, but keep guessing on the others. Come on now, you live in Texas now--that's a good hint for two of the pictures!

Here are my guesses:
1. St. Louis Arch
2. Alamo
3. ?Taj Mahal?
4. Statue of Liberty

We loved Moccasin Trail too. It gave us a lot to talk about.

Julia,

You're right! Actually, the third one is my five year old's attempt at the Alamo. So, the middle two are both the Alamo.

Well it looks to me like St. Louis arch, the Alamo and the Statue of Liberty.
